Winter overnight parking (1 a.m. to 5 a.m.) at Cornell is restricted-any time between December 1 and April 1 that it is snowing or threatening to snow. Vehicles parked in violation of the restrictions may be ticketed or towed.

During periods when overnight parking is restricted, you may park in the following areas which are signed for overnight parking. Any car may be parked in these areas, between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., as long as it is registered with Commuter and Parking Services. Student Winter Break Parking

Winter break parking rules extend from mid-December through mid-January of each academic year. If you are planning on leaving your car on campus during this time, your car must display a valid Cornell parking permit or be registered (at no charge) with Commuter and Parking Services.

You may park in the following areas:

  • East bay of CC lot (North Campus, not in "R" areas)
  • West side of SW Stewart & Williams lot (Collegetown)
  • Schuyler House lot (Schuyler House Residents only)
  • Morrison Hall lot (corner of Judd Falls and Campus Road)

The Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport offers paid parking; Cornell lots near the airport are not available for vehicle storage. TCAT bus 31 serves the airport.

Please remember that parking rules are in effect during the winter session.

Parking on City Streets

On-street odd/even parking is regulated by the City of Ithaca, and is in effect throughout the winter. Please be aware that if you leave your car parked on city streets over break, your vehicle may be considered "abandoned," and be ticketed, towed, and impounded. If you have any questions about Ithaca's odd/even parking rules, call the Ithaca Police Department at 272-9973.

Lot Not Plowed?
If the lot in which you normally park has not been plowed, you may park--with your permit displayed--in the A lot on North Campus, or in the B lot near the Vet College. The Grounds Department will alert the Transportation Services dispatcher as to the condition and plowing status of campus parking areas. If you need assistance in finding a parking space, or just get stuck, call 255-0000.
