Operating Status

There are a number of ways to check whether Cornell is open and how (or if) the buses are running; the Current Operating Status web page covers the options in greater detail.

  • Special Conditions (will open in a new window)
Special events or construction activities that are affecting traffic or parking right now.

  • Electronic Mailing List: Subscribe to Univ-Closing-L
This is one of the slicker options. Instead of seeking out information, it will come to you. If the university is closed or closing, you will be the first to know--automatically. To subscribe send the following command in the body of an e-mail to listproc@cornell.edu: subscribe Univ-Closing-L firstname lastname (where "firstname" is your first name and "lastname" is your last name)

The information from all of these sources is being coordinated by the same people, and will be identical in all venues. You will need to use only one of these resources. As always, be sure to listen to local radio and television stations for information about closings and road conditions.

  • Large conferences
  • The Empire State Games

If you are coordinating or attending a conference, please visit Park Your Caucus.
