TCAT service from campus to East Hill Plaza Commuter & Parking
Services |
The East Hill Shuttle--operating as a pilot program since last fall--connects the central campus with Cornell's East Hill Plaza and Pine Tree Road facilities. The service has proven to be extremely popular with employees, and the positive feedback received through a recent customer satisfaction survey has convinced Transportation Services of the benefit of continuing its operation. On January 2, 2008, service adjustments made in response to the survey will take effect. By making a few alterations to the shuttle route, it is possible to add the most frequently requested stops, while maintaining the 10 minute loop that has made the service so popular. In order to make these changes, the direction of the loop around central campus will be reversed, and the least-popular stop, Statler Hall, will be eliminated. When travelling north, the shuttle will stop at Teagle Hall instead of Barton Hall, and at the bus stop across from Uris Hall on Tower Road instead of directly in front of the building. Other service changes include:
An updated East Hill Shuttle service guide and map can be found here. The hours of operation will remain the same, with the first shuttle leaving the Uris Hall stop at 7:40 a.m., and the East Hill Office Building (circle drive) at 7:50 a.m.; the last shuttle of the day will leave from the East Hill Office Building at 5:10 p.m. There is no charge for the East Hill Shuttle, but passengers are required to show their faculty or staff CU ID card. The idea of incorporating service between upper Tower Road and the East Hill/Pine Tree Road facilities was examined in response to requests we received on the survey. It was determined that adding that area of campus to the existing shuttle service would make the loop 20 minutes in length--the least-tolerated time frame on the survey--and would overlap the abundant, existing TCAT service. A comprehensive schedule of TCAT routes is available here. This schedule is meant to assist this constituency in travelling between these areas of campus. The schedule will be posted on the Commuter and Parking Services web site. Visit TCAT's site for complete route and schedule information. There is no fee for Cornell faculty and staff when they use their CU ID when riding between Cornell facilities. |
