| Escorts |
| Blue Light escorts are available to accompany any visitor or
member of the Cornell community to destinations on or close to
campus campus, including waiting at a bus stop until the bus arrives.
This free service operates from 8:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. seven days
a week while classes are in session. Escorts are often seen in
the area of Uris and Olin Libraries, where they are used regularly
by students burning the late-night oil to study for exams or complete
papers. The escorts are Cornell students hired and trained by Cornell
Police. They operate in pairs. Each wears a reflective blue vest
displaying a Student Auxiliary picture ID and is in direct radio
contact with Cornell Police. You can request an escort team by
calling 5-7373 within the campus telephone system (255-7373 outside
that system) or by picking up a Blue Light telephone on the campus.

| Phones |
| Blue Light telephones are situated throughout the campus for
anyone's use to get information or help quickly. Lost? Having
car problems? Want to report a suspicious incident or a medical
emergency? Need immediate police assistance? Want a Blue Light
escort? That's what these phones are for. There are 71 outdoor
phones that are each marked by a blue light. There are also 186
indoor phones, mounted in elevators or hallways, that do not have
a blue light but are identified by an "emergency" sticker.
All these phones are a direct line to the Cornell
Police; the connection is activated by lifting the receiver.
The location of the phone is displayed on the Cornell Police switchboard.
If a caller does not or cannot speak, an officer is immediately
dispatched to the site of the phone. Blue Light calls are given
the highest priority by our telecommunicators.
